Frequently Asked Questions | 2007 Annual Conference | College Art Association

Do I have to be a CAA member to attend the conference?

You do not have to be a member to attend, but CAA members pay a discounted rate for conference registration.

What does my conference badge allow me access to?

The conference badge allows access to any and all sessions, as well as entrance into the Book and Trade Fair.

Do I need to register to attend the Career Fair?

Conference registration is not required to attend the Career Fair, but you must show a current CAA membership card to enter and participate in these events: Candidate Center, Interview Hall, and Preconference Workshops. (Space is limited and registration fees apply for the workshops.) Artists’ Portfolio and Career Development Mentoring Sessions, and Professional Development Roundtables require registration and confirmation from CAA’s Department of Research and Career Development. Career Fair Orientation is free and open to the public.

If I want to attend only one or a few sessions do I need to register?

Day tickets are available onsite for $150. CAA strongly recommends registering in advance for a lower rate.

Can I get into the Book and Trade Fair with my CAA membership card?

No. Access to the fair is available only to those with a conference registration badge or an Exhibit Hall ticket (price: $15 members and $25 nonmembers). The ticket is good for all days and times the Book and Trade Fair is open.

Are there any parts of the conference that are free and open to the public?

All 1½-hour sessions (held during breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours), ARTspace, Convocation, and Career Fair Orientation are open to the public and are free of charge.

I’m a session chair. Do I get free registration?

Only chairs of the 2½-hour regular program sessions receive complimentary registration for the full conference.

I’m a speaker and only want to attend the session in which I’m speaking. Do I have to register? Can I get a conference badge and a copy of the Program, Directory of Attendees, and Abstracts 2007?

Speakers do not have to register for the full conference to attend the session in which they are speaking; they just go to that session. Speakers do not get a conference badge and a copy of the Program, Directory of Attendees, and Abstracts 2007 unless they have registered for the conference. They may purchase a copy of the Abstracts 2007 at the Single Session Booth. Price: $15, or $10 with a valid student ID.

My school is a paid CAA Institutional member. Does that mean I can register at the member rate?

This option is only available to Early Bird and Advanced registrants whose institution holds a current Library/Department/Museum or Academic/Corporate Membership. Discount rates for employees of institutional members are not available onsite.
