CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Though we can’t possibly list them all, here are a few of the special events we have in store:

  • Tour Fort Worth’s three premier museums, the Amon Carter Museum, the Kimbell Art Museum, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, with an evening reception and open house
  • The Convocation keynote speaker this year will be Dr. Donny George, former Director of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage in Iraq, discussing risks to museums and archaeological sites in wartime
  • The Gala Reception is hosted by the Nasher Sculpture Center: Stroll the galleries and the sculpture garden among works by Pablo Picasso, Joel Shapiro, Barbara Hepworth, Marina Abramovic, James Turrell, and others. Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the temperate weather of Texas in February
  • The 7th annual Distinguished Scholar Session honors Robert L. Herbert, the eminent scholar of 19th-century art
  • CAA Annual Distinguished Achievement Awards are presented at Convocation. Celebrate this years winners of the Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement, Charles Rufus Morey Book Award, Alfred H. Barr, Jr., Award, Frank Jewett Mather Award for Art Criticism, Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing on Art, and others
  • Tour the Richard Meier–designed Rachofsky House, home to a rarely seen private collection of modern and contemporary art masterpieces
  • Delve into Dallas’s lively contemporary art scene on gallery walks
  • The CAA Annual Exhibition, Point of Convergence: MFA, is curated by Benito Huerta
  • At the Book and Trade Fair discover the latest books, catalogues, and art journals; paints, inks, and brushes; educational services and teaching tools—and more
