Getting around Dallas
By Rail and Bus
The DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) Rail System provides service
to destinations in Dallas, Garland, Plano, and Richardson. The TRE
(Trinity Railway Express) commuter line links DART routes to
Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport and downtown
Fort Worth.
Free parking is available at most rail stations, and all
are served by DART bus routes timed to facilitate transfers
between buses and trains. Bus routes run local or express to Dallas and environs.
DART offers two basic, single-ride fares. Local bus and rail service
costs $1.25 and includes access to local bus, DART Rail, and
TRE service in Dallas County. Premium service costs $2.25 and
allows access to express bus service and TRE service to DFW
Airport and to Fort Worth. Both single-ride fare options allow for 90
minutes of train travel or a single bus trip, transfers not included.
DART day passes can also be purchased at $2.50 for local service
or $4.50 for premium service. Day passes are valid for unlimited
rides on the day of purchase only through 3:00 am the following
day. TRE fares are determined by zone. Fare is $1.25 one-way to all
stops between downtown Dallas and West Irving Station, or $2.25
between stations in Dallas County and Tarrant County. Single-ride
and day passes are sold in ticket vending machines located at each
rail station. Passes are also available on buses; be sure to have exact
payment ready when boarding, as drivers cannot make change.
Day passes can be purchased in advance at www.DARTStore.org.
For help determining specific travel routes, visit the trip
planner at www.DART.org, or call DART Customer Information
at 214-979-1111.

delay. There is a $2 surcharge for each extra passenger. Special

Airport. Several taxi companies operate in and around Dallas,
