CAA Mentoring Sessions

Members in all disciplines are eligible for CAA’s two mentoring programs: Artists’ Portfolio Mentoring Sessions and the Career Development Mentoring Sessions. The mentoring sessions are scheduled by appointment only. All participants must be current 2006 CAA individual members. Participants are chosen by lottery from online applications received by December 15, 2005. All applicants will be notified by mail or e-mail of the status of their workshop participation. CAA will make every effort to accommodate all applicants; however, workshop participation is limited.

Artists’ Portfolio Mentoring Sessions

Room 102, Plaza Level, Hynes Convention Center
Appointments will be scheduled in the following time slots: Thurs–Fri 8:00 am–noon; 1:00–5:00 pm
CAA artist members may present slides, VHS-format videos, or CD-ROMs of their work for review by professional curators and critics in individual, twenty-minute consultations. The goal of these sessions is for CAA members to discuss issues and present questions about portfolio formats, visual sequencing, and professional advancement through the artist portfolio with experts in the field.

All applicants must be current 2006 CAA members. To apply, download and complete the Artists’ Portfolio Mentoring Sessions application (in PDF format) here. Participants will be chosen by a lottery of applications received by the deadline; all applicants will be notified by mail or e-mail in January. Career Development Mentoring Sessions

Artists, art historians, museum professionals, and art educators at all career stages are invited to apply for one-on-one consultations with professionals in their fields. The Career Development Sessions offer a unique opportunity to receive candid advice on how to conduct a thorough job search, present work, prepare for interviews, and discuss how to advance one’s career.
